The Celebration Ringers

The Celebration Ringers is a handbell choir celebrating its 25th season of ringing Schulmerich handbells.

We rehearse practice every Thursday night, 6:30-7:30 pm, from September to April. We ring in church four times a year. Ringers can choose to ring all four times or just once or twice depending on their schedule. Each session is a six to eight week commitment.  Occasionally, the choir will play for a community event or at a seniors' residence.

New members are always welcome. When we ring, it looks like we have ‘enough’ ringers but we leave out many, many bells. That’s just one of the cool things about handbell music. Composers write music to be rung by different numbers of people! If you have a few ringers, only a few bells are used. If you have a lot of ringers, lots of bells are used. We have LOTS more bells!

If you are over fourteen, can count to four, know the alphabet (only up to G), and know your left hand from your right hand (aka other left hand), consider joining the handbell choir. You don’t need to know how to read music. There are ways to mark music for you. A sense of rhythm and a sense of humour are definite assets.
